Design systems are scaling machines that can either reproduce harm or create more inclusive experiences. This talk explores how design systems can unintentionally perpetuate discrimination and exclusion, and presents three key principles for creating socially responsible design systems: starting with diverse teams, centering stress cases over edge cases, and embracing complexity rather than oversimplified patterns.
